The Euphorbia polygona a spiky South African succulent that grows as a clump of grey-green stems, with some varieties having different degrees of grey/white colouration. This plant can produce heads of small purple flowers, each spotted with yellow stamens and pollen. New growth on the plant can create bright red spines which fade to brown/black as the growth ages.
Being a Euphorbia, this plant has a toxic sap that should be completely avoided. Gloves and safely eyewear should be used when handling this plant.
Despite its appearance, this plant is not technically a cactus, but rather a Euphorbia, a type of succulent.
Like most succulents, the Euphorbia flanaganii grows best in a gritty, well-draining mix which allows it's roots to dry in-between watering. This plant can be grown in both full sun and partial shade.
